How Vibration Analysis Prevented a Catastrophic Failure
In a recent vibration analysis of a paper machine’s drying cylinder, we identified a 22238 C4 bearing on the drive side in an advanced stage of wear. In the first month of data collection, the overall acceleration level was already at 1.9 Gs, rising to 3.78 Gs the following month. Based on this data, we recommended an intervention during the next scheduled shutdown.

Steam Turbine Generator Unit 1 & 2 Oil Carbonization
Steam turbine generator units 1 and 2 are critical machines in Mong Duong 2 TPP, Vietnam. Each unit contributes 620MW. Both STGs are monitored monthly as part of a periodic SSA contract. If either unit trips, it will result in a costly startup and affects the entire plant's reliability.

Steam Turbine Governor Valve Failure: A Case Study from Singapore Refining Company
At the Asia Turbomachinery & Pump Symposium 2018, Vasanth Bhat and Thangavel Suthan from Singapore Refining Company (SRC) presented a compelling case study on the failure of a steam turbine governor valve in their Wet Gas Compressor (WGC) unit. This critical asset, driven by a four-stage back pressure turbine, experienced two major failures in the main valve stem of the steam inlet valve, leading to significant operational challenges.

What Is the Difference Between “Vibration Isolators” and “Shock Absorbers”?
This article will discuss vibration isolators, which are applied in many situations to achieve vibration isolation. This brings us back to a common question: is a vibration isolator the same as a shock isolator or a shock absorber? It also explores whether the purpose of vibration isolation is best described as a combination of isolation and shock absorption, or as vibration isolation and general isolation.
