Description:
Most wireless vibration sensors used in IIoT machine health applications today will have MEMs technology under the hood; however, many vibration analysts are still skeptical whether this is truly a viable alternative to traditional accelerometers. There is a perception that compromises in specifications will limit the diagnostic ability of machinery failure modes, especially for high frequency faults such a rolling element bearings and gearboxes. Some of this skepticism may be due to the dearth of credible comparisons as most wireless systems only provide access to data via their proprietary Software as a Service platforms.
In the follow-up to our webinar “Can Wireless Vibration Sensors Replace Route Based Data Collection?” [19th May 2022 WOW Europe] we present the results of a routine condition monitoring survey using our standard data collector with a high performance MEMS accelerometer. Targeted at both end users and solution providers alike, our analysis of field data reveals what can realistically be achieved with state of the art MEMS sensor technology.
