Reliability Technician – Vibration

Location: Charleston, SC

The Reliability Technician will execute all aspects of the site predictive maintenance reliability program, with an in-depth focus on data solutions, analysis and program management. This position utilizes reliability skills such as Vibration, IR and motor analysis, technician mentoring, etc. to ensure program success. Communicates equipment issues to the Site Maintenance Manager and works with the Corporate Reliability Manager and other team members to develop and implement solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Perform “stand alone” vibration analysis and conduct both fault and severity diagnosis.
  • Quantitatively evaluate and document exceptions, identify specific faults, assign severity, designate alarm thresholds, accept or reject new or rebuilt equipment based on reports/test results and make equipment repair recommendations.
  • Knowledge to build and make modifications to a vibration database.
  • Recommend innovative solutions to increase equipment life and reduce maintenance costs through the analysis of repetitive equipment failures.
  • Facilitate and drive the Equipment Reliability Process, as it pertains to Predictive and Preventive Maintenance, Infrared Thermography, Tribology, Ultrasonic, Vibration Analysis, MCE/MCSA, etc.
  • Collect accurate data from a variety of PdM sources and provide expert analysis.
  • Maintain and manage the site PdM program tracking report.
  • Communicate equipment and program exceptions to facility management through meetings and reports.
  • Lead or assist with root cause analysis investigations, PM/PdM optimization, and other Reliability continuous improvement efforts.
  • Takes ownership and maintains various program test equipment.
  • Proficient with hydraulic/pneumatic systems, gearing, bearings, pumps, power transmission components, and electric motors ≤ 600 VAC.
  • Contribute to improved designs and manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of equipment in compliance with standard work, codes, and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Administer and maintain CMMS information, PM history, equipment repair records, calibration records, parts & inventory, and other program documentation as pertains to the Predictive Maintenance Program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in engineering or engineering technology, or Military-equivalent training and 4+ years of electrical/mechanical maintenance and repair experience, or High school diploma supplemented by 6+ years of electrical/mechanical maintenance and repair experience.
  • Level 2 Certification in vibration analysis, certifications in at least two (2) additional technologies, and a minimum of 3 – 5 years of PdM experience.
  • Demonstrated application of precision equipment installation (e.g. dynamic balancing, equipment alignment, belt tensioning, etc.)
  • Proven interest and experience with the applications of Predictive Maintenance and Condition-Based Monitoring (Vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasonic testing, tribology, etc.)
  • Familiarity with both mechanical and electrical systems and equipment (e.g. electric motors, switchgear, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, bearings, etc.)
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, Oracle).

This is a “hands-on” role. Must be able to work off-shift as required by management. Placement as Tech 2 or 3 based on qualification/experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $30.00 to $34.50 /hour
