About the Author
Jason Tranter (BEng Hons) has been involved with condition monitoring and vibration analysis since 1984. He is the founder and managing director of the Mobius Institute and the Mobius Institute Board of Certification [MIBoC].
In 1986 Jason formed his Australian company, ARGO, which was heavily involved in vibration monitoring and systems development. In 1990 he sold that company and the “ALERT” product line to DLI Engineering in Seattle (now Azima/DLI). Jason was in charge of product development.
In 1996 Jason returned to Australia and for the next three years, he developed the ExpertALERT (EAV), DCX data collector, and DCX Online products.
In 1999 Jason formed “Mobius Institute” and began the development of the iLearnInteractive series of vibration, alignment and balancing training and analysis products, including iLearnVibration, iLearnAlignment, iLearnBalancing, and Interpreter. These products have been used by thousands of people in over 90 countries. Mobius Institute has won numerous Victorian Government Export Awards and has been a finalist in the Australian Government Export Awards for 2007, 2008, and 2012.
In 2005 Mobius Institute began offering distance learning and public courses with certification that followed the ISO 18436-2 standard (and ASNT SNT-TC-1A Recommend Practice). Jason was the primary author of the Category I, II, III, and IV training courses.
Mobius Institute has offices in Australia, USA, and Belgium, and Authorized Training Centers in over 55 countries. Over 23,000 people from 140 countries have been trained in these courses.
In 2011 Jason formed the Mobius Institute Board of Certification [MIBoC] to handle the certification process. MIBoC is accredited to ISO/IEC 17024.
In 2013 Mobius Institute released the iLearnReliability product which comprises over 7000 slides of e-learning content that explains how to break out of a reactive maintenance cycle and improve reliability through defect elimination and condition-based maintenance. Jason is the primary author of that product.
He is an Australian delegate to ISO TC 108/SC5 “Condition monitoring and diagnostics of machine systems”.
Jason has delivered numerous technical papers around the world and has had articles published in numerous international magazines and journals. Jason has also been awarded “best presenter” at seven conferences in 2013 and 2014 alone.
