SONOTEC at ComVac 2019

New Modular Software Platform For Digital Ultrasonic Testing Device SONAPHONE

At this year’s ComVac, the leading international trade fair for compressed air and vacuum technology, ultras2ound specialist SONOTEC will be presenting the new modular software platform SONAPHONE DataSuite for the digital ultrasonic testing device SONAPHONE for the very first time. From 1 to 5 April 2019, visitors to booth E09 in Hall 26 will be able to see for themselves the benefits of the predictive maintenance software.

“SONAPHONE users want to save energy, prevent production losses and increase the availability of their machines and systems using ultrasonic testing technology. With our new software platform SONAPHONE DataSuite, it will be even easier to detect errors before any losses occur and to ensure a flawless production process”, says Michael Münch, Business Unit Director for Preventive Maintenance. The platform’s functions include mapping of the existing system structure, optimal route planning and characteristic value definition. It also enables testers to synchronise data with the SONAPHONE, show trends, detect anomalies and make predictions for future behaviour.

SONAPHONE DataSuite is part of the Maintenance business unit’s digital strategy, which also includes the digital ultrasonic testing device SONAPHONE. The mobile hand-held device is primarily used in combination with an airborne sound sensor for leak detection and evaluation on compressed air, gas and vacuum systems. “With our technology, companies are not only able to save a great deal of energy due to the fact that around 30% of the energy used for compressed air is lost due to leaks, but are also above all able to save time. Time-consuming processes such as leak evaluations or paper-based recording are things of the past thanks to our SONAPHONE device. Service engineers are guided throughout the entire testing procedure, and with just a few clicks, can create a report on all detected leaks at the end of the procedure, complete with photos and comments”, Michael Münch continues.

The digital ultrasonic testing device can also be used to check the status of steam traps and to carry out condition monitoring tasks such as the monitoring of roller and ball bearings. This involves attaching the broadband structure-borne sound sensor BS20 to the device. The state-of-the-art testing device can also be easily used in combination with a parabolic sensor in order to detect partial discharges.

Additional SONOTEC device types are also available depending on the particular requirement or task. The SONAPHONE Pocket, the smallest device in the SONAPHONE family, stands out thanks to its intuitive operation and is primarily used for the detection of leaks on compressed air, gas and vacuum systems. And for potentially explosive areas, there is the SONAPHONE E.

Visit SONOTEC from April 1 to 5 at ComVac in hall 26 at booth E09.
