Summary
A very common question in our courses and via email relates to the “heavy spot” and “high spot”. What are they? How do you measure them? Is the angle measured against-rotation or with-rotation? How does the sensor type (accelerometer casing measurement versus prox-probe displacement) affect the high spot? How do the vibration units affect the high spot? Do rigid rotors have high spots and heavy spots? What is a “rigid rotor”? What is a “flexible rotor”? Is a flexible-rotor ever rigid? How can you use the information to choose the best location for your trial weight?

This Webinar will use our training simulators and animations to answer these questions. Just wait until you see these simulators; they really will put a clear picture in your mind that will lock-in your understanding of one of vibrations trickiest questions.

Dear Jason,

Firstly, I thank you for the insightful webinar. I appreciate your efforts in making us enjoy this webinar.

I have a small question, how to find phase lag between heavy spot and high spot experimentally?

I know bode plot can help in finding the phase lag at the corresponding speed.

However, I would like to know is there any other way to find the phase lag.

Thanks and Regards,
Sagi Rathna Prasad
