Webinar Description:

This presentation introduces the concept of HD condition monitoring technology, showing how it has been used to detect bearing damage in a low-speed gearbox. The presentation describes the spalling process in bearings with supporting photos of real bearing damages and suitable techniques for early damage detection. It also covers the choice of sensor type for damage detection in low-speed bearings. The case story involves several measuring challenges:
– Low speed (52 rpm)
– Limited measuring time window, requiring triggered measurements
– Several signal sources
– Planned maintenance stops only once a year

Learning Takeaways

1. Suitable transducers for low speed applications
2. The spalling process in bearings
3. Bearing failure root cause analysis
